Artists's Statement

Lottery games - and indeed most gambling - succeeds because of a belief in numerology. We have faith in statistics to level the playing field - all sorts and conditions of humans have equal chance of winning. We have faith in certain numbers, which emotionally support our hopes of winning.

Gambling, or at least in general that kind of gambling which requires no special skill, must survive on faith in that which we call "luck". This must be a kind of unadmitted faith in devine providence.

The cosmic connection for me comes at the limit of my ability to comprehend the field of numbers I study in order to devise the game-playing systems I have presented here. I seek the wisdom of experts in the field of statistics for suggested ways of improving the presentation.

Mathart Lotto admits that there is no percentage in betting against the house. All my experience to date indicates that my systems perform precisely according the theory. It is indeed far better to BE the house. Therefore, in Mathart Lotto, I can become a kind of numerological shaman.
