Hi! I was just checking out your home page (which was a link in the bacd home page) and I think it's great! I like how you have little blurbs with your pins. I too am a big overall fan, though I only have 2 pair (one long, one shorts). I'm lucky, I can wear them to work. Where are the pictures of your overalls? Or *you in* your overalls?

Subject: so, how is LA

just trying to look at an LA dyke and what do I find but a fellow New Englander (a Bostonian at that). Well, hope LA is all it's cracked up to be. What kind of art stuff did you do here? I've been in Boston about 2 years and am just tapping into the local scene a little. My girlfriend is a photographer, so I gots to learn art. Anyway, thought it was funny to look for LA and find Boston. Happy surfing!

I thought your pages were pretty neat. We just went on-line at work, and part of my job is to find the neat stuff that would be helpful to people here. (tough life) So I found the queer stuff and the queer home pages. That's where I found your stuff.

I work for ***. We provide AIDS services-housing, home care nurses, a clinic, and adolescent stuff. It is really cool, and 80% of the staff is queer. It is so nice to be able to come to work and be out. Unfortunately, everyone is going to P-town over Memorial Day weekend (me included). So much for getting away from it all.

We had our first nice weekend here. Went and watched a couple of softball games, saw some cute girls. Can't wait for the summer to really kick in here.

Have a good week!

Hi Cristin!

Great home page! btw, the Sonic-Queen of the Universe link seems to be not working. :-( works fine for me...

You had sent me email earlier saying you knew women who now play for Beantown/Eageles...so have you ever thought about playing yourself? My club is always recruiting....over the summer, we will be playing touch so you could come & check it out without the contact-factor. Or maybe you *like* the contact part. Let me know if you're interested & I'll let you know when we start playing touch.

Hi Cristin,

Just wanted to drop you a note and say I like your pages. Also, I wanted to ask if that is a "Lesbians Who Kill" shirt you're wearing? I saw that show in NY and I have the t-shirt myself. I'm asking, cause when I was living in Seattle for a short time, and wore that shirt to work out, they asked me never to wear it again. When I asked him why, he said "it's because the word 'kill' is offensive and this is a family place." Yeah, right. Tell that to the guy with the schwartzeneger shirt on. heh heh

Anyway, I like the site. :-)

Hello Cristin! How are you? My name is Laurie and I just checked out your stuff on the web. Pretty cool. I am using my boss's computer to do all this, so I wasn't sure how to write to you. Hopefully this works. I am not too good with computers. Anyways I loved it! I have been to the Whiptail. I love it there too. I live down in Santa Cruz, and goto the city about twice a month or so. And I could really relate to problems with your name. People always spell my first name as Lori. As for my last name, well they won't even attempt it. **** is also Dutch, and I think it means " of the wharf on the hill" or " of the eagle's nest". Anyways I will be 23 end of next month, I work in the organic chemistry labs here on campus. This summer I am kinda running things so I get to play a lot on the computer. I have been clean and sober for almost 3.5 years. What else? Oh yeah I am very out, even at work. One of my favorite things to do is wear my 100% Dyke t-shirt to work and watch people stare, or try not to. I belong to the Wild Irises, a clean and sober womyn's motorcycle group (all queer). It is very fun. Anyways my lover and I just got a house. Things sure are interesting when you move in with someone.
Anyways just thought I would drop you a line and say hi. If you feel like writing sometime please do. I am always looking for queer email-pals. Take care,
Laurie

Sorry, Laurie, not interested in an LDR.

A strange bit of wandering led me to your door - I sent an application to date SONIC-Queen of the Universe, and for grins I decided to explore the previous applications from the eWorld browser instead of Netscape. Couldn't remember the URL - so I passed the string "sonic quue universe" to Web Crawler and your page came out on top. :')

I like the layout, and escpecially the tattoo page. although I haven't succumbed to the temptation yet, I have considered getting a simple staff with a treble clef and the signature for Eb major (or c minor) and letting freckles be a melody.

Subject: Your Homepage

Hi Cristin,

Girlfriend, you are not right. I've been cruising your homepage and laughing my ass off. I don't think I know anyone quite like you. Well, I guess I should tell you who I am now that you know I'm laughing at you, huh?

Well, my name is Sharon. I'm 24 from ***. Right now I'm at work at ***, a R&D firm where I write GUIs for a living. My degree, from *** State University, is in math. What's this about heinous math problems? You ain't seen nothin' yet. Anyway, I guess I should add that I found your homepage while looking up girl scouts. Yes, I used to be one and I just couldn't resist doing a webcrawl to see if we were out there. Well, I just kind of zeroed in on the dyke selection. I just knew I wasn't the only queer ex-girlscout floating around out here. Anyway, the reason I'm laughing so hard is that I'm in ***, and absolutely nobody is so "flamboyantly" open here. I think it's great that you live somewhere that is open-minded enough to "tolerate" someone like you. Here I'm afraid we would have our cars spray-painted and rocks thrown through our windows. Of course, the locals have evolved enough that as long as we don't make too big a stink out of our new club opening, we won't have any bashers show up at the party. Yes, we actually have a new club, been open about a year, this makes the second club in ***. I'm afraid we haven't progressed to the point of having the clientele to support a smoke-free, alcohol-free place, but we do have a coffee shop and bookstore that are gay-owned and oriented.

Well, enough about queerdom in ***. I have added your homepage to my Hotlist so I'll be visiting often. I haven't had time to chase all your links, but from what I see I'm going to enjoy thoroughly. Thanks for the diversion while waiting for compile.

Please write back if you have time and desire. I'm always looking for new friends, especially those of the female and dyke persuasion.

I read your discourse on overalls and I have one thing to add: There is no woman alive who does not look fabulous in overalls. They are truly they greatest form of clothing known to humanity. I used to hang out at Maud's, over on Cole Street. Is it still there? Other dyke hangouts I was known to frequent, would like to know their fate/state of health: Amelia's, Peg's Place (not for the fainthearted), Bay Brick Inn. When I moved to Palo Alto hung out at the Daybreak, do you get down that far and is it still there?

Subject: Memories of childhood

I've been browsing your home page today and i noticed your comment about wondering what happened between the ages of two and eight. I find this interesting because I remember very little about my childhood before the age of 9 or so. My father worked for the U.S. Government and we bounced back and forth between the US and Germany. My long-term "linear" memories kick in at about 9 years old. My wife is also an "army brat" and she too has clearest memories from about age 8 on. I suspect that a total change of environment prior to that age results in some sort of "reset" (for want of a better term).

While I can't claim to have performed any sort of rigid study, it does appear to me that this is a fairly common phenomenon among kids I've known who had a major environmental change at around 7-10 years of age.

My own best early memories are of family, and they are the part of the environment that moved with me...

Don't have a clue what prompted me to click the mailto button... You just struck a chord with my own "missing" childhood, which I recall only through a series of small vignettes, not any linear memories.

Of course I did catch a car bumper in the head at age 9, which may be part of _my_ memory problems :-).

You have your problems, I have my beliefs

Tell me why is it that (at least it seems to me) women in the arts change the spelling of their given name (I knew a woman who spelled her name L-E-I-C-A, pronounced "Lisa") or change it completely to something they make up themselves ?

Lastly, how in the hell can a name sound or look "dykey"?

Subject: Stop Motion Animation

I saw on your web page that you have done work with stop motion animation. I have also done several films using this technique. Most were on 8mm, but the last was on 16mm. I have an ancient wind-up Kodak 16mm camera. It takes excellent pictures, but it is not an SLR. It is the kind with the 3 rotating lenses on the front and sighting tube beside each lens. My test film with this camera showed that you have no way to tell what will be on the film when looking through the viewfinder. As this is critical for the closeups needed when working with minatures, I need to find a new camera. I was hoping that you could tell me what kind of camera you have used, what you thought of it, what it cost, where you got it etc.

I am also very interested in the brass armatures you said you have made. I have worked with some plastic armatures, but mostly just clay or real-world objects. What type of tools do you need to work the brass and where did you get the design for the armature?

I'd be very grateful for any pointers or advice you can give me.

Not much happening here. I just finished my qualifying exams. OOPs, my timer just went off. Got to go...
