Stone Harbar, New Jersey, 1990.
Site dimensions = ocean and beach, Focusing device = 10 ft. x 6 ft.
Lead Ball = 11 inches diameter / 300 pounds. Lead, wood and steel.

From the bending of a coastline to the intermittent rain storm, our landscapes are formed and shaped by the elliptical movements of the earth, sun and moon. A Focusing Cone was installed on an open beach in order to watch a 300 pounds lead sphere sink into the sand. This visually amplified the presence of the moon's effects on the earth. The sinking took approximately 6 hours and 15 minutes, corresponding directly to the movement of the tide and sand around it.
