This isn't really a portrait of me. He's Steve, the poet in Open Mic Fright--a
cross between Steve Busceme and Peter Loree. Some people say he still looks like me. I don't smoke.
My history goes way back into the land of what we know now as the 70's. The Dukes of Hazzard, Sanford and Son, Three's
Company, and Fantasy Island was etched deep into my mind. I was born in Detroit Rock city, Motown,
Hockey Town, Murder City, the Beirut of the Midwest. Home of Ford, the Devil's Night fires, Coney Islands,
car jackings, Techno music, freeway-overpass-bowling ball-droppings, 1968 riots, and Ted Nugent. As a child, my biggest artistic influence was Bob Ross, and
Charles (Sparky) Schulz. I read all his novels. Later in life, took to political satire. I soon found my
cartoons in papers like the Seattly Weekly, and the Ann Arbor News. Unfortunately I haven't been prolific with
cartooning, but my work can still be found in the Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year--check it out at Borders or Amazon.com. If you
asked me if I always wanted to be an animator, I would say no. If you asked me if I like to see the vice-president naked,
I would say stop sniffing air freshener. My animation evolved over time. It's very daunting, and I still
consider my strength story and development. Animation breaths life into characters, but I find it's the writing, staging, and
timing that makes or breaks an animated film. My goal in the upcoming years is to
continue with my film making and eventually direct animated : comercials, T.V., and made-for-T.V. movies
starring Justine Batemen and those goddam full house twins.
Ultimately, I would like to find myself in a partnership running a creative studio--not unlike Wildbrain, Klasky Csupo, and
the good old days of Colossial Pictures.
Well, we have to start somewhere. So I keep plugging away at quick little films in hopes that I can make my next car
payment.
If you have a slight interest in any or all of my films, I'll be more than happy to send you more info.
If you are some big shot producer interested in Licensing or Developing, then I'm your sellout. No, seriously, I'm
always trying to explore more outlets for my work. I am always searching for new venues in T.V., video, festivals and
other yet-to-be-discovered mediums. I'm continuously developing new material and would love to discuss
potentials with anyone who has vision and/or substantial monetary funds.
